March 2022

March's focus for everything writing-related was on editing the novel I wrote for my daughter called Disappearing. I have moved the entire novel back into Scrivener, broken out by chapter.

I have been rereading each chapter and breaking it out into scenes within. My goal is to work through every scene, rewriting what needs rewriting. This will not be an easy process, but I am doing a little bit every day. It keeps the process fresh and fun.

I keep coming up with new ideas for writing, and I have been taking twenty minutes or so to write the ideas down. My brain is doing everything it can to distract me, but I'm not letting it win... Yet.

I have read through the first couple of Murderbot Diary novellas by Martha Wells, and I would love to see this as a series and Phoebe Waller-Bridge as the murderbot and main character. Fingers crossed.

I submitted the short story I finished editing last month, and it hasn't been rejected yet. I check the site every day, even though I know I will get an email if anything changes. So that's fun.

It's spring, and with that, I'm looking forward to more daylight, nicer weather, and more distractions. My goal for April is to continue making progress on Disappearing without pushing so hard that I file it away. If it's filed away, any progress I have made might be lost, and I'll have to start the process over again.

And here is a picture I took of some freshly flowering snowdrops
